Downtown
Walking down the street
A cold rain falls from
Air conditioner equipment
I pretend they are raindrops
Touching my skin
Cleaning me
Of my sins
And while I'm developing
The Art of Self-Illusion
Life gets easier
I get self-confident
And while I'm developing
The Art of Self-Illusion
Happiness gets ready
You get closer to me
Downtown
Air conditioners cry
Sun behind the Sky
To find some happiness
I lie

Hi, teacher. I believe I'll make the first comment in the blog. What a honor!
I'm not any good at poems, but I presume the poet constructs the illusion by pretending that the drops that are falling from the air conditioner are raindrops, which clean him from his sins and then he get more self-confident, lying to himself.
Or something like that...

Cool dear! But what about the senses envolved in the poem. I am talking about the 5 senses. And the movements? Do the images change along the poem?
Ps: What an honor to have you as my student! =**
Hello to all!
Well, like Marcos, I'm not so good with poems. But there are some considerations about it.
First, I perceived that the author relate illusion with air-conditioner and street. These are modern things so, I presume that self illusion, maybe is related with this. Maybe because of nature destruction, I don't know. I think that his construct the illusion above this... I don't know.
About the movements, there are some drops of water down on the author, like a rain. He is walking on the street, and this is another movement.
It's all!

I'm got so happy with the last class. At morning I was talking with my friend about my difficulties to understand not Brazilians English. I can understand very well when a Brazilian speak English, but American English or British English is so difficult to me.
Then, at the last class I had the opportunity to listen an Iraquian speaking English. I study with him about one year but I never perceived that this is a good exercise. Well, I didn't like to listen Hubay speech (I don't know how to write his name, sorry) because I think so difficult understand him. But the exercise made at class make me saw that it is so good to improve my English.
The other side, Hubay's side, is very hard too. I never put me in his side. It is very difficult to him understand my English as it is so difficult to me understand American, Iraquian or British English.
The last class show me the big opportunity that I have every class to improve my English. And Hubay story, Hubay life is very interesting! He had a lot of experiences and I have a lot of things to learn with him, not about English but about his life experience too.

Hello teacher :)
About the text... don't know... Guess sometimes we close ourselfs in a shell, to keep living in this caotic world.
About the sentence that I've told you in class, its: "A realidade ilustra o destino de um homem que morreu por não ter realizado o que ninguém pôde realizar após sua morte."

First let me say how this place is important for me. I miss a space outside the classroom to practice my English and I think this blog is a good opportunity for it.
Besides that I liked very much the design and the messages presents here.
In relation the poem I think the senses involved are the vision and the tact. It’s because the author sees the “rain” and touches it. The movement presents is the fall. The rain falls. The author is walking DOWN and the word DOWNtown appears twice out of the context.
I also think the author constructs his illusions lying for himself. He says lies like: “Cleaning me / Of my sins “, “Life gets easier”, “I get self-confident”, “Happiness gets ready”, “You get closer to me”.

Hi dear Teacher! Fantastic blog, good ideas and inteligent people, this is the better place to study.
Congratulations for the initiative!
The poem is a poem, certainly there are a lot of senses inside it.
See it:
Losing my English
I was walking carried by Blue Spirit¹
The rhythm: peaceful
The destiny: English class
Was going ready to hit it
Looking around a lot of clouds
The color: dark black
The distance: very close
The rain was screaming very loud
I was looking the traffic
The conditions: collapsed
The time: rush hour
But my soul was pacific
I was in the middle of the way
The emotions: tripping
The scene: cold wind and dark sky
I was in the dark side of the day
Unfortunately the Blue Spirit was down
The situation: tire bored
The rescue: three miles after
I was carrying the Blue Spirit now
After loud promises the rain arrived
The wear: wet
The thought: also wet
At this moment UFG was drowned
I was watching the Blue Spirit mend
The need: dry and warm place
The way: come back
I was coming back close to the end
Fortunately we have a blog nowadays
The reason: confidence
The sense: is there any?
I don’t know. I almost lost my illusions last Thursday
¹Motorcicle Honda, model Biz, color Blue.

Very nice poem, Pedro. Despite I hardly understand a poem, I liked yours very much. Maybe because it's closer to me somehow... It already happened to me before some times. I can imagine how you felt that day :-(
I'm sorry but I have to tell you: you lost an excellent class...
See you next class! And take care of Blue Spirit :-)

Hi,
I'm not good with poems either!:)
Actually I'm not good with texts or interpretation...
In the poem I just can see two senses: vision and touch.
And the movements: Walking and rain falls.
How does the poet constructs the illusion?
I don't know!
:)

First, I would like to define illusion. An illusion is something that appears real, but isn't. Magicians use illusion to convince us that we see something they want us to see, such as a person being cut in half. From a personal development standpoint though, it is important to realize the difficulty in separating reality from illusion. Second, I found myself in a situation where I had created an illusion, and gave it reality for a while. I fell in love and somehow I found myself being deceptive, and even though the dreams of something perfect seemed so real to me at that time, but in the end it was not so important. Finally, even though I got deluded in my overwhelming illusion of love that distorted my reality, I realized that illusion did not change who I am, because now I feel strong and even more passionate, however, I might gonna have other illusions in life, I believe that my sense of reality it will always be challenging.

Hi folks.
First of all, I'd like to say that is very exciting to have a place as this one, outside the clasroon to keep on pratice the english. Great idea teacher Maressa!!!
I Loove poems a lot, and I liked this one. I don't know if I'm able to give a nice interpretation about any poem...
Ok, about the poem. I think that the real life is quite hard, everything looks so cold and ugly and the solution for you keep living is to latch in your own imaginations, they are very nice because evrything works as you wish, so, is better to belive that the cold rain is from the clouds and not from the air conditionare.
If you not dream, how can you keep alive?
WOW guys... I will comment your comments very soon. I am amazed with Pedro's poem and the participation of you all! Thanks for being here!
Maressa
Well, from my point of view the most important thing on this poem is not the 5 senses or the movements... I think that the whole concept of the poem is important and the message that the author want to pass is that sometimes it is easier for us to live an illusion. It is hard to live reality. And that is exactly what happens with most of us. Sometimes we want to live an illusion and escape from reality, escape from our problems, so we lie to ourselves to make life easier.
That is how I see the poem.
Thanks...
Take care you all.
all days livin´ in a self illusion
danilo
Hi to all. I´m late, sorry.
But I agree with Nina, about my point of view the most important thing on this poem is the message that the author want to pass to we: live the illusion. It is completely hard live alldays the reality. Sometimes we have live an illusion to escape of the stress, the sadness, the people. When you stop your activities and observe around, you can see more. You can realize more things, you can see that the condicional´s water are more the condicional´s water... Are tears or what you want imagine and fell.
Hello!
This poem is easier that other...
Well, I think that the author is contaminated with the modernity because he imagina that the rain isn’t rain, but Yes... a big “air conditioner which cry”. The nature don’t have more space a life’s men. For example: “Sun behind the Sky to find some happiness”.
The movement I found in to walk of author and in a the rain to fall. The words that suggest movement are: walking, falls, developing, ready and closer. The senses envolved an the poem... the smell in the rain, the cold in the skin, the noise of the air conditioner and raindrops...
The senses envolved an the poem are the smell in the rain, the cold in the skin. The words that suggest movement are walking, falls, developing, ready and closer.
By Juliana! Bye bye...

Teacher,
I can't write about illusion, I think a difficult subject. Illusion for me is believing in something and then discover that this isn't true.Living in the illusion is believing in something beyond that which we know isn't true.
Talking about it is very difficult ...
kisses
Hi, teacher. I'm not good at poems, but I'll try to analyse this text.
The character is in physical movement (walking down the street). But, in same time, this place can look as a personage, something intimately linked with his life.
The movement involved in this poem is mainly the touch (The touch of raindrops in the skin). But, when one come into the poet's universe one can hear the noisy and feel the characteristic smell from the street. When I read this poem, I have my five senses activated.
Another topic involved in the analyse of this poem is how the poet constructs the illusion.
For me, the poet constructs his illusions lying for himself, because at this way "the life gets ready".
As the character, the persons have problems that torment their life. They try to find one way to free them from that. In moments of despair or anguish, they find comfort in material things which on that moment relieves their pains. One example of this at the poem.it is the rain water which acquires a supernatural mean, washing not only the physical things but, the pain and suffering too.
Bye!
Adolfo Henrique
I understand that real life is very hard and take a illusion is easier may for to continue living in this world. Everyone build illusions.
In the poem the illusions are constrocted with material things like the Air conditioner that simbolizes the rain pretending that the pretend is the best thing to heal from the bad things on life. This is the art of self illusion, trying to cheat yourself.
trying to find some happines with lies.
Is anybody alive?
Hello Marcos! I am alive! How are you? Well, I hope that we study together again... my schedule to the next semester isn't avaiable, but I hope that I could study at the same day and hour.
Bye!
Fabiana
Hi, Fabiana. I will try to enroll myself in the same day and time of the last semester. I hope to have you as classmate again. See you!
